Caring for shirts

Most of us just chuck our favourite T-shirts in the wash and don’t think twice about it. But continuing this practice over and over can definitely ruin a shirt much faster than they’re supposed to last, especially if it’s a custom shirt from a shirt supplier because the designs are newly printed. There are many ways for one to damage shirts and shirt prints, so it pays for you to read care instructions for shirts and be cautious.

Whether you’re planning to buy a designer shirt, have a custom made one, or gift a shirt to your friend, there are many good reasons for you to protect your shirt from wear and tear. Have a printed shirt that you need to protect? Here are a few good tips for you to follow when it comes to the care of your shirt!

  1. Don’t iron directly on prints. This is a surefire way to get cracked or damaged printing. Always remember to turn your shirt inside out or flip the shirt over when ironing them!
  2. Look for care instructions on your shirt. When in doubt, check the label or ask your shirt supplier for care tips on your shirt. Treat the advice like a guide to shirt washing.
  3. When in doubt, wash with cold water and turn the shirt inside out before washing. The print is the most sensitive part of your shirt, which is why it’s better not to expose it too much in the wash. Also, cold water is safer than warm water while washing.
